The future of Neymar da Silva, the Saudi Al Hilal star, is threatened in the “Leader’s” castle after the statements of Marcelo Teixeira, the Brazilian president of Santos.

Neymar has been absent from Al Hilal since last October, due to a rupture in his cruciate ligament, during his participation with the Brazilian national team against Uruguay, in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

It is expected that Neymar will be absent until the end of the current season, as he is currently spending a rehabilitation period in Brazil in preparation for his return to the stadiums, at the beginning of next season, noting that he played only 5 matches with Al Hilal jersey.

Neymar has a contract with Al Hilal until the summer of 2025, with the option to renew for another season.

But the Santos president made an early promise to his team’s fans to sign a contract with the Brazilian star after the end of his current contract, which threatens the possibility of Neymar renewing with the leader.

“My conversation with Neymar was very quick, but quick conversations always have a good effect.” Teixeira said, in statements highlighted by the British newspaper “Daily Mail” on Sunday.

“In order to return to Santos, he must recover well from his injury. He will finish his experience in Saudi Arabia, then return to play with us.” He added.

The Santos president’s conversation with Neymar came on the sidelines of the 32-year-old’s attendance at the team’s match against Corinthians, last Thursday, in the Brazilian League.

Neymar played for Santos from 2009 to 2013, before moving to Barcelona, so he has a strong relationship with the team’s fans.

While attending the Corinthians match, Neymar wore a shirt bearing the Santos logo, and he also kissed the logo and greeted the fans.

Al Hilal had included the name of Renan Lodi, the team’s new player, in its local list instead of Neymar, with the Saudi club re-registering the former Barcelona winger next season, after he recovered from the injury.
