Representative of the African Union calls for thinking outside the box
Sudan Events – Nahed Oshi
Sudan’s representative in the African Union, Cairo Office, Nader Fath Al-Aleem Sir Al-Khatm, praised the state’s interest in reconstructing Sudan, describing the step as a great achievement. However, he called for the necessity of “thinking outside the box” by refraining from increasing customs duties and taxes and not exhausting the citizen with the increase of duties, with the importance of focusing on Production and control of resources, noting that Sudan produces about 90% of the global market’s need for gum arabic in industries. He said during his intervention yesterday at the Round Table Conference for Sudan Reconstruction and Compensations in Cairo yesterday that resources must be managed in a way that places humans among the priorities. He stressed at the time his denial of the importance of the environmental axis. He regretted the neglect of the environment over the years, placing it at the bottom of the ministries and distributing it among political satisfactions despite its importance. He said that the Ministry of Environment is one of the ministries that can bring in huge amounts of money for environmental programs, calling for the merging of the Ministries of Environment and Health.
