EFA reveals the details of holding the cup final in Saudi Arabia

The Egyptian Football Association officially announced, on Monday, that the cup final between Al-Ahly and Zamalek will be held on March 8 in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The Federation said that it responded to Saudi Arabia’s invitation to host the final, as one of the most important sporting events of the Riyadh season.
Gamal Allam, President of the Egyptian Football Association, added that this step comes in support of the bonds of relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and in response to the demand of the Egyptian fans residing in the Kingdom, in addition to the participation of the brotherly Saudi fans in this football event.
For his part, Yasser Al-Meshal, President of the Saudi Football Federation, explained that attracting major sporting events such as the Egypt Cup represents an exceptional opportunity and a reflection of the nature of the fruitful cooperation between the two federations.
In the same context, Saif Al-Waziri, Vice President of United Sports Company, said that the Egypt Cup is the oldest football competition in Egypt, the Arab region and the African continent, and its importance comes not only from its heritage, but also from the fact that it bears the name of Egypt.
In turn, Counselor Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority, announced that the Egyptian summit would be held at Al-Awal Park Stadium, the stronghold of Al-Nasr Club.
The date of the match was brought forward, after the Egyptian Football Association had set an initial date for it, next March 13.
This is the first time in the history of the Egypt Cup that the tournament final will be held outside the country.
