Revealing the reasons for the Decline in Meat Exports

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah

The head of the Meat Exporters Division, Dr. Khaled Al-Maqbool, acknowledged the decline in Egypt’s imports of Sudanese meat due to the instability of supply due to the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia.

Al-Maqbool confirmed in his interview with (Sudan Events) that the Egyptian market is open to Sudan and there is a large gap in Sudanese meat in it, which led to a significant increase in meat prices. He said that Sudan was and still is the main source of good meat and its prices are reasonable.

However, what is accepted is that there are other reasons for the decline in Sudanese meat exports to Egypt

Firstly, it was affected by the transport of animals via the land road due to security problems, which led to weak traffic and high costs as a result of the levies imposed on them from various sides on the roads, in addition to the rise in transport prices due to the high price of fuel and other things, in addition to the fluctuation in the price of the exchange rate and its instability in Sudan and Egypt, which he considered leads to great difficulties in calculating costs, profits and losses. He pointed out that the meat that was slaughtered for the purpose of export to Egypt in the Al-Kadro slaughterhouse was stopped due to the war, noting that there are camel cows that go by land and are slaughtered in Egypt, and it is accepted that there will be a breakthrough in the increase in meat exports in the coming days due to the progress made by the army.
