German coach Jurgen Klinsmann ended his career with the South Korean national football team on Friday.
Chung Mong-gyu (President of the South Korean Football Association) announced the departure of the former German football star from the position of coach of the national team following the failure to win the 2023 Asian Nations Cup, which was held in Qatar and won by Al-Annabi.
This announcement came a day after the national team committee recommended the dismissal of Klinsmann, whose original contract was to last until the 2026 World Cup.
South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency quoted Chung as saying: After a comprehensive review of the recommendation, we have decided to replace the national team’s head coach.
“When it comes to getting the best out of the national team, guiding the players and his work habits, Klinsmann did not live up to our expectations of the national team coach, nor did he show leadership.” He added.
“We decided that it is unlikely that Klinsmann’s work as technical director of the team will develop, given his abilities and work ethic.” The federation president revealed.
