Studies to Establish a Free Zone in Atbara

The Minister of Foreign Trade, Al-Fatih Abdullah Yusuf, announced that the Atbara Chamber of Commerce has been approved as a member of the Sudanese delegation participating in the Arab Businessmen Conference held in the Turkish capital, Ankara, next April.
During the joint brainstorming meeting with the leaders of the Atbara Chamber of Commerce at the Grand Atbara Hotel, he emphasized the role of the Chamber of Commerce in creating economic mobility, the flow of commercial activity, and commodity exchange through free exports. “We will work to provide full opportunities for the chambers of commerce to participate in external forums and promotional exhibitions.”He said.
For his part, the Minister of Finance of the Nile River, Mahjoub Al-Sir, stressed the completion of all studies and consultations regarding the establishment of the free zone east of Atbara, provided that the customs station and the areas adjacent to it are within the campus of the free zone.
He saluted the qualitative initiatives of the leaders of the Atbara Chamber of Commerce to support the economic and commercial movement, enter into bilateral partnerships with the state and federal governments, and go beyond the stereotypical and traditional in commercial action towards the horizons of global leadership.
While the Secretary General of the Atbara Chamber of Commerce, Saif Al-Din Moqled, explained the obstacles and challenges of commercial work, most notably the commercial registry, certificate of origin, and membership in the Chamber of Commerce, in addition to the importance of establishing a free zone and networking.
The meeting discussed a number of obstacles and issues that would create the desired economic and trade movement through the movement of exports, imports, and agricultural and industrial production.
