ICRC supports 8,000 farmers in Sudan

Federal Minister of Agriculture Abu Bakr Al-Bushra announced a package of support that the International Committee of the Red Cross will provide to small farmers in the states of Kassala, Gedaref, and Blue Nile, in addition to the states of Darfur.
This came during his meeting with the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Kassala State, Michel Emerick.
Al-Bushra explained that discussions were also held with the representative of the committee about the process of providing basic grains to the Darfur states that have finished the agricultural season, indicating that the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross will include providing seeds and machinery for about eight thousand farmers.

For his part, the representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross praised the response of the Sudanese authorities and their interest in ensuring food security, stressing their keenness to support farmers and continue their humanitarian roles towards those affected by the war.
