Atletico: Griezmann Suffers Sprained Ankle

Atletico Madrid’s Spanish striker, Frenchman Antoine Griezmann, suffered a sprained ankle, according to what the capital team announced on Wednesday.

The French international suffered the injury during his team’s 1-0 loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday at the San Siro Stadium in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, and was replaced by his Argentine coach, Diego Simeone, in the 78th minute.

Spanish reports stated that the player will miss the match against his host Almeria on Saturday in the Spanish League, and there are doubts about his participation against Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final on the 29th of this month.

Griezmann is expected to be ready for the return match against Inter on March 13.

The 32-year-old is performing strongly with his team this season, scoring 18 goals in 36 matches in all competitions.
