Activating border trade between North Darfur and neighboring countries

The activities of the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Activating Border Trade in the state were held in the city of El Fasher on Thursday to discuss ways to activate border trade between North Darfur State and neighboring countries, and to discuss how to organize trade movement between the states of North Darfur and the Northern State.
The Director-General of the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Manpower in the state, Muhammad Musa Yahya, confirmed in press statements that the meeting discussed the challenges and obstacles facing the border trade process, in addition to presenting proposals and solutions that would advance the process of facilitating commercial activity. He stressed the importance of joint coordination and unifying efforts to ensure the flow of necessary and basic goods in the required manner to the citizens of the state without restrictions or any external influences.
He revealed that the meeting agreed to establish a unified window that includes all the relevant agencies with the aim of regulating the flow of goods in El Fasher and the localities of Melit and Malha, in addition to other localities that have customs stations.
For his part, Director of the General Administration of Trade and Supply at the Ministry of Finance, Jamal Musa Ibrahim Al-Safi, explained that it was agreed to raise the security representation of the customs police at the various customs stations. He added that his administration is concerned with joint coordination and tight linking with all concerned collection authorities, represented by taxes, the local government, and the rest of the other agencies, to achieve the public interest, especially the flow of goods to the state, as well as overcoming the obstacles facing the commercial movement.
