Omar Marzouk: The Gezira Scheme is a huge economic fortress

The former governor of the Gezira Scheme, Dr. Omar Marzouk, promised to continue his efforts to support the Gezira Scheme in all forums, internally and externally, until the scheme achieves its goals, in order to achieve comprehensive economic and social renaissance.
Marzouk confirmed in a message of thanks that he sent to the farmers sector and administrators in the scheme, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the great cooperation that he found from the sectors of workers and farmers in the Gezira Scheme during his period of assuming the management of the Gezira Scheme and bid farewell to them. He stressed that the Gezira Scheme is considered a trust in the hands of its children, workers, farmers and production partners. As a huge economic fortress that must be preserved for future generations.
On the thirteenth of February, the Council of Ministers issued a decision to dismiss the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Dr. Omar Marzouk and appointing the agricultural director, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, as governor of the Scheme.
Marzouk was appointed governor of the Gezira Scheme in 2020.
Recently, in November 2023, a group of farmers in Gezira State and Al-Manaqil Scheme began collecting signatures from farmers with the aim of dismissing the Scheme governor, Omar Marzouk, with the current administrative director of the Scheme being assigned until agreement is reached on appointing a new governor.
