The Saudi Gulf team was crowned the Saudi-Emirati Handball Super Championship, after defeating the UAE’s Al-Ahly Dubai team with a score of “27-25” in the match that brought together the two teams at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam.
Although a number of Gulf players did not appear as usual, the team succeeded in maintaining its balance for most of the match until it was crowned with a victory that gave it a new title, the first of its kind.
Hashem Al Ahmed, Deputy Supervisor of Handball at the Gulf Club, said that this victory and achievement comes at a difficult time for the team, which means that this tournament represents great importance.
Al Ahmed told Asharq Al-Awsat that the players made great efforts to win and confirm their right to win the first edition of the Saudi-Emirati Super Cup. He stressed that they are determined to make their utmost efforts and fight until the end to preserve the gains achieved last season, including achieving the league championship.
