The war causes the disruption of large amounts of gold production
Sudan Events – Nahed Oshi
The former director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, an expert in the field of the mining industry, Engineer Mujahid Al-Bilal, revealed that the war that broke out on April 15 last year caused a disruption in the production of between 300 and 400 kilograms of gold during the first months of the war.
He said in a statement to (Al-Ahdath) that the war had a great impact on the sector. In the field of producing franchise companies, all foreign companies stopped and evacuated their employees at the beginning of the war, but they resumed production later after several months.
He added that the war contributed to the disruption of the production of three hundred to four hundred kilograms per month.
While production slowed down in most waste treatment companies due to the scarcity of production inputs and the decline in traditional mining activities that feed the sector with ore.
Noting that the war led to a major cessation of exploration activities by companies.
Which affected the state’s revenues from the mining sector, in addition to the decrease in the volume of gold exported through official channels in the first period of the war and the escalation of smuggling activities.
He added that the weakness of government oversight in the first period of the war led to the massive spread of random activities represented in treatment with chemicals, far from oversight agencies and official procedures.
Pointing out that the speed of movement of the Ministry of Minerals and its arms and their spread in the field in the safe states enabled the rapid return of activity to production companies and the control of random practices.
He warned of the danger of attacking the Ministry’s presidency, the headquarters of the Geological Research Authority, and the headquarters of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, causing the country to lose invaluable technical and administrative information, and the mining sector will suffer greatly to retrieve that information.
