This War Cannot Conclude with a Military Triumph for any Side

Sudan Events – Agencies

It is best that the above does not occur. This is just simple common sense, and repeating it is sheer absurdity. However, the war did occur, and it included a series of ongoing violations and crimes, principally committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia. Ending the war by political means cannot entail rewarding the militia for its crimes and violations, or providing political support for it. The political solution must be centered on restructuring Sudan’s state and governance system, which involves dismantling the militia and ending its institutional presence, as well as reforming the army and other state institutions. The framework of systemic crimes that were perpetrated violated Sudanese rights to life, liberty, dignity, and property. Attempting to restore the situation to what it was prior to the outbreak of war is a form of madness that the Sudanese will not tolerate, and those attempting to promote solutions that ensure the survival of the militia and the continuation of its institutional presence in order to seek political support from it are pure political mercenaries who are no different from those who take up arms and commit crimes themselves.
Our fight to reform the state system and all of its institutions, including the security system, the military, and the army, and to establish a democratic civil government system in Sudan does not include using militias, whitewashing their crimes, and attempting to repackage and present them to the Sudanese people. People’s right to life, security, and dignity take precedence over anything.
