Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola confirmed that facing the “king” of the Champions League, after the quarter-final draw against Real Madrid, “has become a traditional matter.”
Real Madrid will face Manchester City for the third consecutive season in the Champions League, and it eliminated Pep Guardiola’s “Royal” team last season on its way to winning its first title in the continental competition.
“It seems to be a tradition already. 3 years in a row we play against the kings of the competition. I hope we can arrive at the best time because there are many weeks before the first match in Madrid.” Guardiola said, in a press conference, Friday.
Regarding the advantage of playing the return match at Al-Ittihad Stadium, Guardiola pointed out that the draw cannot be controlled, and that anyone who says that the draw was easy or difficult is the one who underestimates the opponent.
“This year we are playing at home. Two years ago we played away. This is what it is. We will need two good matches.” He added.
“In recent years we have been very regular. We started getting to these tours and when you are on these tours you start playing against the best players in the world.” He explained.
