The Sudanese Standardization and Metrology Organization (SSMO) in White Nile State, in cooperation with its partners in the Supreme Committee for Consumer Affairs, destroyed (13) tons of expired and damaged food commodities. It was voluntarily reported by a food company, including bottled water, soft drinks, and juices, after completing all required technical and legal procedures.
The head of the Monitoring and Inspection Unit of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization branch in the state, engineer Dafallah Al-Dakir Al-Makki, praised the high ethical level of this company and other companies that took the initiative to voluntarily notify immediately when their products expire or when they are damaged and carry out their duty towards the consumer in what is considered one of the goals that have remained. The Organization seeks to achieve this through its various work activities and ongoing media awareness programs to establish a culture of standardization and consumer protection, calling on all companies and merchants to immediately report when food and other consumer goods expire or when they are damaged for any reason through the Organization offices in the various cities of the state.
Once again, the Organization continues its intensive monitoring campaigns within the program “For a Safe Consumer in Ramadan.”
