The acting governor of Gezira State, Al-Taher Ibrahim Al-Khair, inaugurated (Sunday) in the Al-Mansi department, the new office, the operations of harvesting the wheat crop in the Gezira Scheme, in an area of 220 thousand acres, in the presence of Ibrahim Mustafa Ali, governor of the Gezira Scheme, Major General Awad Al-Karim Ali Saeed, commander of the 1st Infantry Division, and Brigadier General Imad Al-Din Security.

The governor of the Gezira state stressed that the wheat crop is considered one of the strategic crops that Sudan depends on for its economy and a guarantee of global food security.
The governor praised the efforts made by the Gezira Scheme administration and the farmers in making the winter harvest a success, despite the complex circumstances.
For his part, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Ibrahim Mustafa, stressed the strategic importance of the wheat crop for the people of the Gezira, stressing the Gezira Scheme management’s determination to return the Scheme to its original functioning.
He said that the total area that will be harvested represents real support for the people’s armed forces, which are fighting the battle of dignity and pride, as the productivity of one acre for this year reached 22 sacks.
He added that the concentration price will be motivating and encouraging to producers in appreciation of their role in reconstructing the land.
