Promises to reconsider the decision to increase export fees

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Authority granted a promise to the Gum Arabic Exporters Division to reconsider the decision to increase export inspection fees within (72) hours.
The head of the Gum Arabic Exporters Division, Ahmed Al-Annan, informed (the events) that they held a meeting, (Sunday), with the Director of the Standards Authority and the Financial Director on behalf of the Gum Arabic Exporters Division.
“During the meeting, the difficult circumstances that exports of gum arabic are going through were clarified, including that gum is the only commodity produced in the least safe areas, which increased the burden of costs. In addition, the gum arabic chain is the longest export processing chain, in addition to being the most exposed commodity.” He said. “For smuggling, which makes the high fees encouraging this phenomenon,” he said, stressing that the specifications understand their payments.
He revealed that a letter had been submitted in the name of the division in which they proposed solutions so that the authority would not be harmed nor would the issuer be harmed, confirming that they had received promises from the authority that promised to reconsider the fees within 72 hours.
Al-Annan praised the high spirit of the Standards Department in managing the dialogue and understanding the exceptional circumstance in which gum arabic exporters operate.
Yesterday, exporters were surprised by the imposition of export inspection fees amounting to 5 million pounds per 500 tons.
