The Vice President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Malik Aqar Air, directed the management of the Nile River Transport Company to prepare a comprehensive report on the position of the boats, tractors, and barges, with the aim of actually intervening to carry out the necessary maintenance and announcing a new phase in the river transport programs that will reflect positively on the national economy.
Aqar renewed during his inspection visit to river transport in Kosti (Sunday), accompanied by the Governor of the White Nile State, Omar Al-Khalifa Abdullah, and the State Security Committee, with the aim of identifying river transport and the obstacles facing the work of river navigation between Sudan and the state of South Sudan.
He stressed the state’s interest in river transport, noting his serious efforts with the state of South Sudan to benefit from river transport in shipping and deportation.
For his part, the Governor of White Nile State revealed that arrangements have been made with the Federal Ministry of Trade and Supply to launch border trade operations in order to revive commercial movement in the border areas, which in turn is in the interest of activating river transport operations.
