China pledges to provide $300 million into the mining sector in Sudan

China announced its readiness to inject $300 million as a first package into mining projects in partnership with the Sudanese government, and start investing in Sudan in several fields, especially the mining sector.
While the Sudanese and Chinese sides agreed to establish a joint committee between Chinese investors and the Ministry of Finance, Minerals, Trade and Investment to address any obstacles that may face investment in the country.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim expressed Sudan’s keenness to build strategic relations with the Republic of China, which is moving steadily towards leadership in the global economy. During his meeting with the delegation of the Chinese embassy in Sudan, he appreciated ways to strengthen relations between the two countries in the political, economic and defense aspects.
The relationship between Sudan and China, reviewing the results of his visit to China last November and urging the Chinese delegation to form mechanisms to activate the understandings concluded between the two countries.
Gabriel stressed the government’s commitment to facilitating all necessary procedures to start work. He added that the shortest path to repaying the country’s debts to China lies in increasing joint investment, through which the necessary obligations can be fulfilled and profits can be reaped for the country.
