Vinicius Junior, the Real Madrid player, collapsed when he received many questions about racism, during the press conference he attended yesterday to talk about the Spain national team’s friendly match against Brazil, scheduled to be held today at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the stronghold of his club in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
Vinicius was present to talk about the Brazilian national team at the press conference, but he was surprised by many questions about the racism he suffers from in La Liga during the matches of his team, Real Madrid.
“I am here to talk about football, enough of the statements about racism.” The player said while he was in tears during the conference.
“Spain is not a racist country, but there are many racists and many of them are in the stadiums. I never thought about leaving the Spanish League, otherwise I would have given the racists what they want. I think the problem in Spain is that racism is not a crime, and I am not entering a war against Spain fans, but I am trying to fight racism in the whole world.” He added.
“I draw strength from my family and old friends. They know how I suffered and did not have any future. I believe that playing football is important, but combating racism is more important.” He said.
“I thank all the Spanish players who always support me, and of course I have a lot to improve. I am still 23 years old and this is a natural development. You leave Brazil at a very young age without learning many things.” The Real Madrid star said.
