Killing of Sudanese while fleeing the fighting to the S.Sudan

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

Save the Children revealed that Sudanese were killed while fleeing violence to South Sudan.
The organization said in a statement on Wednesday that most people arrive in South Sudan with “nothing, having lost their homes and livelihoods, while some children reported seeing their loved ones, including their parents, killed on the highway .”
It pointed out that 1000 people are fleeing every day from Sudan to South Sudan, where they arrive in a region facing a hunger crisis, while the hostilities show no sign of abating.
Those fleeing arrive at the border crossing from White Nile State on foot or in transport vehicles, along a bumpy dirt road, amid fears that the crowding of refugees and returnees will lead to the spread of diseases.
The statement stated that those arriving at the crossing usually spend about two weeks in centers that house more than 15,000 people, even though their capacity does not exceed three thousand.
The organization said that food and water are scarce in these centers, while health care is limited.
However, many have settled in temporary shelters, from where they go into South Sudan, including the refugee camp in Maban.
