Washington: We put pressure on the SC to deliver aid to those affected by Sudan war

The United States US said it will put pressure the UN Security Council to take action to deliver aid to people suffering from hunger in Sudan.
These measures may include authorizing the transit of aid from Chad if the Sudanese army does not provide full mechanisms for delivering supplies.
As the conflict in Sudan approaches one year, US Ambassador to the United Nations UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that the warring parties undermined aid deliveries and ignored the Security Council SC call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
She told reporters that “the situation in Sudan is still catastrophic and worsening,” adding that “people are starving.”
“In Zamzam camp in North Darfur, a child dies every two hours,” she said. Experts warn that in the coming weeks and months more than 200,000 children may die of hunger,” and called on the Sudanese army to fully reopen the borders immediately.
She added that the army “if it does not do so, the Security Council must take swift action to ensure the arrival and distribution of life-saving aid, including, if necessary, a cross-border mechanism” to deliver aid.
