Farmers offer their lands for sale
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The official spokesman for the Agricultural Chamber in Gedaref State, Hassan Zarrouk, revealed that farmers have begun offering their agricultural lands for sale, due to the high cost of agriculture this year and the ineffectiveness of crops for farms.
In his interview with Al-Ahdath, he confirmed that there is no buyer despite the low price of an acre, noting that the price of an acre in 2019 was 300 pounds, and now it is 80 thousand pounds, noting the dollar difference.
He revealed the accumulation of production in warehouses and silos at approximately 2 million sacks, and complained of weak prices as well as their fluctuation.
Zarrouk pointed out that the price of gasoline at the beginning of the season reached 140,000 pounds, while it currently stands at 350,000, which has doubled the cost of production in addition to the fees imposed on crops, which represent 30%.
