Fire Kills Twenty-Five, Wounds Three in Turkey’s Istanbul
A fire killed 25 and wounded three others in an Istanbul residential building Tuesday, the city governor’s office said, updating an earlier toll of 15 dead and eight hurt.
“Although the fire was put out thanks to the firefighters’ response, 25 people lost their lives in the incident. Three people are in hospital with severe injuries,” governor Davut Gul’s office said in a statement.
The blaze had broken out during construction work in the basement of a 16-story building in Gayrettepe, part of central Istanbul district Besiktas, Gul said.
