WFP : Humanitarian aid shipments arrive in Darfur

The World Food Program WFP announced the arrival of 37 trucks carrying 1,300 metric tons of supplies to West Darfur from the Chadian city of Adre.
He announced the arrival of (16) other trucks carrying 580 metric tons of supplies to North Darfur through the Tina border crossing with Chad, at a time when (6) trucks carrying 260 metric tons of food arrived to El Fasher from Port Sudan, which is the first aid shipment to be transported across the Red Sea. .
The World Food Program WFP said in a statement, “Food supplies are being distributed in the states of West and Central Darfur.”
“We need aid to continue to reach war-torn communities through all possible routes,” added WFP Representative and Country Director in Sudan, Eddie Roy. “
Hunger will increase in Sudan as the lean season begins in a few weeks. I fear we will see unprecedented levels of “Famine and malnutrition are sweeping Sudan during this dry season,” he continued. “WFP and our partners urgently need security guarantees so that supplies can be distributed in North Darfur to people struggling to get even one basic meal a day.”
The operations are cross-border from Chad. “To Darfur is necessary to reach communities where children are already dying from malnutrition.”
In this context, the World Food Program WFP announced the first distribution of humanitarian aid to those affected by the war in the Karari Bamdurman locality, in the first operation of its kind since the war began last year.
