A UN team arrives in El Fasher to coordinate humanitarian aid

Events – Agencies

A UN team led by the Deputy Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs at the United Nations in Sudan, Toby Howard, the Humanitarian Coordinator for the North Darfur Office, Nadim, and the United Nations Peace and Security Officer arrived in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Sunday, to coordinate humanitarian aid to the states of Darfur, according to (Al Sudani).
Humanitarian aid trucks belonging to UNICEF and the World Food Program WFP were attacked by the Rapid Support Militia, at a time when the United Nations said that it had received only 5% of the value of the appeal it recently launched to raise $4 billion to provide humanitarian aid to victims of the war in Sudan.
The UN team considered the city of El Fasher the center for coordinating aid to the states of South, East, Central and North Darfur.
Earlier, the Rapid Support Forces RSF threatened in a statement that they would not allow the arrival of any humanitarian aid coming from the northern crossings. The government and the United Nations agreed to use eight land and air ports, including the Al-Tina and Adre ports in Chad, as well as the Al-Dabbah port in the northern state, to bring humanitarian aid to all those affected by the war in Sudan.
Thousands of civilians stranded in Khartoum and Gezira states are suffering from the lack of any humanitarian aid, with electricity, water, communications and internet services cut off for more than a month.
