Official sets a vision for development events in Sudan
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Omar Taha Al-Bashir, Coordinator of Producer Organizations at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, confirmed that Sudan has the resources that enable it to bring about development in a not-so-long period, but he conditioned this on developing an integrated strategy for this that stems from the actual needs of communities, especially rural ones.
During his speech at the Food and Development Forum, he stressed the necessity of using the participatory approach in developing strategies and plans, pointing out that it is the approach by which most developing countries have developed, which have advanced in all fields.
Omar Taha said that the continuous rise in the prices of agricultural commodities has placed agriculture at the top of the development agenda in most countries of the world as it is the fastest in reducing poverty. He pointed out the importance of involving all relevant ministries and authorities in developing strategies for this, and stressed that otherwise it is difficult to develop any field.
He pointed to a previous experience in one of the states in which sesame technologies were applied with a number of communities, and achieved high productivity, but they were surprised by the sale of the production before the harvest due to a drinking water crisis, and the proceeds from the sale were used to purchase drinking water.
