Press reports revealed that the Saudi Football Association is considering an urgent decision in light of the incident in which Moroccan Abdul Razzaq Hamdallah, the Jeddah Football Association striker, was beaten by a fan, after the Saudi Super Final match.
Hamdallah entered into a verbal altercation with a fan during the award ceremony following the Saudi Super Cup final, which was held last Thursday in Abu Dhabi, after the player sprayed water at the fan.
Al-Ittihad lost the title to Al-Hilal after a 1-4 defeat.
ESPN reported on Monday that the Saudi Football Association was “shocked” by the scenes it described as “shameful” following the final match, and decided to conduct a comprehensive review of the crowd behavior charter in stadiums.
The review is scheduled to include setting new rules and regulations to impose appropriate penalties, with the aim of preventing the recurrence of such events.
The incident ended with Hamdallah and Al-Mushajer waiving their rights before the police.
