The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning and Head of the Justice and Equality Movement, Dr. Gabriel Ibrahim has said that the Sudanese government is not concerned with the results of the Paris conference, and Westerners link humanitarian work to the political agenda. He added in his interview with the BBC that Western society ignored the crisis in Sudan, and described their talk about their inability to deliver aid as a mere lie, and refuted talk about an imminent famine in Sudan, stressing, “It is illogical talk and agricultural production is abundant.”
Jebriel stressed that the current government is very austere, and some ministers move “by rickshaws” and their salaries are less than $400.
He announced that the Abu Amama Port development agreement with the UAE is no longer binding on Sudan, against the backdrop of the UAE’s assistance to the Rapid Support (RSF) Militia, indicating that the gold currently exported to the UAE is through the private sector, and he said that the government is still looking for other alternatives.
He denied that they were subjected to pressure by army commanders to join them in fighting the RSF. He added, “We did this to protect honor and the property of citizens.” He ruled out the occurrence of fighting in Darfur on an ethnic and tribal basis, stressing that the region will not separate from Sudan.
Jebriel called on former President Omar Al-Bashir and his assistants to surrender themselves to the International Criminal Court to clear their name.
