Industries rehabilitation and reconstruction conference

Minister of Industry Mahasen Ali Yaqoub announced the completion of preparations to hold a conference for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Sudanese industries early next May in Port Sudan.
During a meeting in Cairo that included the Sudanese ambassador to Egypt, the Secretary-General of the Arab Union for the Development of Industrial Exports and the head of the Muawiyah Al-Barir Group, along with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Soda Expo Exhibitions Company and the Secretary-General of the Arab Federation for International Exhibitions and Conferences, she indicated the efforts made by the Ministry to overcome the difficulties facing Sudanese factories to restore their activity and encourage establishing factories in the states to cover citizens’ need for various goods.
On the other hand, Muawiyah Al-Barir revealed the losses incurred by the industrial sector and the destruction caused by the rebel militia in the factories, “Despite these losses, there are efforts being made to rehabilitate the factories, return them to work, and transfer some of them to the states.” He said.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Abdel Moneim, Secretary-General of the Arab Union for Export Development, presented the Union’s initiative to organize a conference to rehabilitate and reconstruct the Sudanese industry to be held in Cairo next May, in which international and regional organizations and financing institutions will participate, in addition to Sudanese manufacturers and businessmen.
