Blue Nile farmers send demands to Al-Burhan

Farmers from the Blue Nile region, who were financed by the Agricultural Bank for the 2023 agricultural season, submitted demands to the Heah of the Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to direct the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sudan to provide the necessary support and financial resources to the Agricultural Bank to play its role in the financing process and continue to increase the area of agricultural areas in the region to achieve higher productivity in the crops produced in the region.
They stressed the need to remove the difficulties and obstacles that prevent the bank from carrying out financing operations during agricultural times, and warned of the danger that this poses to farmers, which makes them vulnerable to evading payment due to their weak capabilities. They pointed out the need for the state to place the Agricultural Bank among the priorities of support and provision of agricultural inputs during this stage to fulfill its role in increasing production and productivity of strategic cash crops. Also, they called on the Ministry of Finance to encourage producers by setting remunerative prices for wheat and corn crops.
