Al-Burhan Informs “International Churches” Delegation of their Efforts to Bring About Peace

On Saturday, the President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, briefed a delegation of the World Council of Churches on the efforts of the Government of Sudan to bring peace to Sudan.
The head of the delegation, Bishop Rufus Okekola, said in a press statement that the delegation provided enlightenment to the President of the Council about their visit to Sudan and their assessment of the situation of churches in the country after the attacks they were subjected to by the rebel Rapid Support militia (RSF), stressing the solidarity of the World Council of Churches with Sudan and its people in the face of the challenges they are being subjected to targeting its security and stability.
Rufus expressed his hope that security and peace would prevail in Africa in general and Sudan in particular.
The head of the delegation explained that they, as a council of churches, are ready to provide all aid and support to the Sudanese people in order to reach peace.
The delegation included representatives of the Fellowship of the Council of Churches in the Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa and the All African Conference of Churches, as well as representatives of a number of organizations working in the humanitarian field.
