Emergence of Counterfeit Banknotes in Mining Markets

The director of the office of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company in the northern state, Abdul Rahman Mahjoub Al-Nadeef, has revealed the appearance of denominations of counterfeit cash amounts in mining markets spread across the state’s 11 local markets.
During his address, he confirmed the training workshop organized by the company (Monday) in cooperation with the Bank of Sudan, Dongola Branch, and the Court of Accounts, on how to identify counterfeit money and the dangers of paper collection. He stressed that the workshop aims to address counterfeit money and the dangers of paper collection through recommendations that will be submitted to the State Security Committee as a security and criminal issue in the first place that worries everyone and threatens the national economy. He said that the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company will move forward in cooperation and coordination with the relevant authorities in finding radical solutions through training workshops and some means for the problem of counterfeit money and the dangers of paper collection and preserving the economy and the mining sector.
The workshop targeted miners and observers in mining markets.
The representative of the Governor of the Northern State, Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development, Eng. Khaled Musa, addressed the workshop activities, stressing the importance of such training workshops to enlighten and inform recipients, observers, workers in the mining sector, and citizens of the procedures followed and the technical aspects of identifying counterfeit currency. He pointed out that the mining sector is considered one of the sectors that absorb large cash flows, which requires addressing the problems of counterfeit currency and preserving mining resources.
For his part, the Minister of Finance and Manpower in the Northern State, Hafez Awad Al-Karim, stressed the importance of the workshop in confronting the challenges of counterfeit currencies, especially for collectors and cash dealers. He stressed the necessity of intensifying such workshops in localities, and the Central Bank of Sudan, Dongola Branch, urged banks and banks operating in the state to open branches in collection sites that witness heavy cash dealing.
In turn, the Director of the Central Bank of Sudan, Dongola Branch, Fath Al-Rahman Malik, confirmed that the partnership with the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company and all parties will continue in order to enlighten and inform recipients and observers of the dangers of counterfeiting the current currency and to protect the national economy. While the Director of the Audit Bureau in the North, Al-Sadiq Ahmed Al-Hajj, praised the efforts and initiatives of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company office in the state and its keenness to address counterfeit money and the dangers of paper collection and push the wheel of production, economy and desired development, stressing that the company contributed greatly to printing paper receipts.
It is noteworthy that the workshop presented two working papers, the first titled How to Identify Counterfeit Money and Denominations, and the second paper entitled The Dangers of Paper Collection.
