Foreign Ministry: Washington Avoids Condemning the Militia Alone
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that it supports what was confirmed by the US State Department statement that the Rapid Support Militia (RSF) completely destroyed a number of villages west of El Fasher.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the city of El Fasher will be victims of the expected and ongoing aggression.
It pointed out that the massacres and atrocities committed by the RSF Militia in El Geneina, Wad Medani, and Gezira State; It has proven that it primarily targets defenseless civilians, especially displaced people.
The Foreign Ministry said that the RSF are the ones who are detaining and attacking aid convoys and warehouses with premeditation.
It pointed to the recent report of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to the Security Council that during the year 2023, the RSF kidnapped more than 160 women who were raped and detained in a slavery-like state.
The State Department statement explained that these crimes are in addition to what was previously confirmed by the US State Department itself last December, that the RSF are committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing reminiscent of genocide.
It added, “It is surprising that the US State Department avoided issuing a clear and frank condemnation against the RSF, without coupling it with false allegations against the armed forces confronting these forces.”
It continued: “If the United States is unwilling to support the armed forces and the Sudanese people in the battle against the RSF, it must stop making baseless accusations against the army.”
