The World Anti-Doping Agency confirmed the implementation of the sanctions it had imposed on Tunisia and its athletes, after the expiration of the deadline that the agency had given to Tunisia earlier. Tunisian Radio Mosaique explained on Wednesday that the World Anti-Doping Agency had written to the Tunisian Anti-Doping Agency last November, informing it of the need to amend its anti-doping laws, in order to implement the 2021 version of the World Anti-Doping Code, and gave the Tunisian Agency a deadline to do so, then sent a new letter on April 8 to give it an additional period of 21 days for its response, however, the Tunisian agency did not respond. The sanctions stipulate that Tunisia is not granted the right to organize any sporting events or regional, continental or global championships, in addition to preventing Tunisian athletes from raising the Tunisian flag during Olympic competitions, while preventing Tunisian cadres from working in the committees and management of the World Anti-Doping Agency until the laws are issued, which allows Tunisia to return again to the global agency.
