Minister of Justice: We are Amending the Intelligence Service Law

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

Minister of Justice Muawiyah Osman has said that the efforts of the armed forces, the forces supporting them, and the Khartoum State government led to the stabilization of conditions and the return of life to normal.
He added during his meeting with the governor of Khartoum, “We in the ministry are ready to contribute to completing the institutions.”
In the context of his comment on the delay in the General Intelligence Service law, the minister said that amendments to the General Intelligence Service law are underway and we will work to issue a law to organize popular resistance.
Regarding the militia’s crimes, the Minister of Justice said, “We submitted documents about the militia’s crimes to the Human Rights Headquarters in Geneva, and there are Sudanese youth present in European countries who submitted documents and protests condemning the militia.” He expressed his regret that international organizations deliberately turned a blind eye to the militia’s crimes and worked to equate the national army, rebels, mercenaries and foreigners, and he added, “We are thinking about developing a legal vision for compensation and confirm our support for Khartoum State in this aspect.”
For his part, the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, confirmed that the foreign presence is considered the greatest security threat, and added, “Some nationals of countries have become essential fighters in the ranks of the militia.”
He added, “The vandalism committed by the militia against citizens and public property is significant, and now we have begun documenting the vandalism. However, there are crimes of rape and forced disappearance, and there are victims and families who suffered violations that need to be looked into urgently.”
