Launching Modern Devices to Examine Gold

On Saturday, a member of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Marine Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, inaugurated the work of devices for examining and hallmarking gold and silver jewelry, which were imported by the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO).
The Director General of Standards, Rahba Saeed, said that the SSMO, in confirmation of its growing role in the process of controlling gold exports and ensuring their conformity with international standards, has brought in the latest global technologies in the field of examining and hallmarking gold and silver jewelry to maximize Sudan’s exports of precious metals.
She pointed out that the Authority has lost most of its technical capabilities due to the current war, and that importing these advanced devices represents a challenge to the circumstances surrounding the country and a major qualitative leap in facilitating and accelerating the inspection and screening operations for precious metals, and they constitute an important part of permitting the passage of Sudan’s gold exports to global markets, which makes a major contribution. She is very keen on supplying the state treasury with foreign exchange to rebuild what was destroyed by the war, noting that the new devices represent an integrated technical system that includes (10) XRF and (6) Laser devices for examining precious stones and metals of the high German technology to be distributed in the SSMO branches in Red Sea , Kassala, River Nile and the North States.
Rahba announced the desired benefits after launching the work of the devices to develop and upgrade the field and the large monetary value for the benefit of the country by increasing and maximizing the returns from the production and export of gold and other metals and reducing their smuggling in accordance with the directives of the Council of Ministers, while these devices contribute to doubling the production process and productivity. The following are the inspection, calibration and stamping processes for gold and precious metals.
She appreciated the great role of the Minister of Finance in responding quickly and providing the necessary support and facilities for the process of providing important equipment.
She expressed her appreciation to the Minister of the Council of Ministers supervising the work of the SSMO and all government agencies (Economic Security, Customs Authority) who contributed to overcoming obstacles to completing the purchase, follow-up and receipt process.
Rahba described receiving the technical equipment for examining gold as a historic achievement and another good news for the near victory of God for the Sudanese people.
