Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Minister of Energy and Oil, Dr. Mohieddin Naeem, has stressed the importance of providing fuel to Gedaref State, especially agricultural fuel. He said that the Ministry worked to prepare the Gedaref warehouse to serve farmers.
The Minister met with the Governor of Gedaref, Major General (R) Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Ahmed, and members of the committee delegated to the farmers of Gedaref State, headed by Yasser Ali Al-Saab, Chairman of the Committee.
The meeting discussed the committee’s efforts to provide fuel to farmers, reduce the cost if possible, and make the most of the Gedaref depot and oil companies in the state.
The Minister of Energy and Oil confirmed that the Ministry has left the fuel trade since the state moved to liberalize fuel prices, leaving room for competition between capable and qualified private sector companies, but the Ministry is still working to provide fuel as it is the supervisor of distribution, transportation, supervision, and policy development, but it is not possible to reduce prices or exempt any fees.
For his part, the governor of Gedaref revealed the state’s need for 30,000 tons of fuel for agriculture in the state so that farmers can cultivate all the available agricultural space, pointing to the directives of the Sovereign Council of Gedaref state to provide food to Sudan along with other producing states after the impact of some states by the war.
