Visa crisis…..American Envoy…Attempting to undermine Sudan’s sovereignty
Sudan Events – Aya Ibrahim
In February of this year, it was announced that Tom Perriello was appointed as a special American envoy to Sudan, but since then he has not set foot in the country after nearly three months from the date of his appointment, at a time when Perriello is making regional tours that include a number of countries to discuss the Sudanese crisis and try to bring back the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Militia (RSF) to the negotiating table in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Asking a question
The tours made by the American special envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, to a number of countries during the recent period, and which he is also carrying out during these days, without including Sudan, the country concerned with the mission he was assigned to, raised a number of questions about the man not visiting Sudan and searching for solutions to its crisis from within the country.
(SudanEvents) is unique
(Sudan Events) has revealed the details of Sudan’s refusal to grant an entry visa to the American special envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, after informed sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed them that Perriello requested a conditional entry visa on his arrival being preceded by American Marine forces to guard the airport, which must be free of any Sudanese security presence and his residence must be at Port Sudan Airport, and that his meeting with Sudanese officials, headed by the President of the Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, will take place at Port Sudan Airport.
The sources said that the Sudanese government’s response to the conditional visa request was rejection, and they confirmed that the State Department informed the American envoy that this measure diminishes Sudan’s sovereignty and there is no need for it because Port Sudan has two embassies of countries that have veto power in the Security Council, which are Russia and China.
Agenda Defects
The former media attaché of the Sudanese embassy in Washington, Makki Al-Maghribi, goes in the direction of what the reliable (Sudan Events) sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said when he said that his reliable sources also informed him that the procedures required for the visit of the American special envoy to Sudan to the country diminish the status of Sudan, and that the government does not reject his visit, but it has reservations about procedures, and expect things to change according to what Sudan requests.
Al-Maghrabi pointed out to (Sudan Events) that one of the defects of Tom Perriello’s agenda is that it is burdened with requests that have nothing to do with America itself, and requests from the pre-war phase, as it makes no sense for America to talk to a party to bring about peace and ask it itself to leave, and he said, “This is a mixture.” For the cause of peace and the issues of political settlement.”
He expected that Sudan would take steps and take decisions that would withdraw some items from foreign agendas in general and from the American agenda in particular, for example, forming a government to close the door to bidding on it. He also expected direct American-Sudanese negotiation at a lower level than the American envoy to remove obstacles from Sudan’s communication with the envoy.
Denying reality
Although the facts prove the validity of what was revealed (Sudan Events) by its reliable source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the American special envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, did not arrive in the country months after his appointment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied its refusal to grant the American special envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, an entry visa to the country, The official spokesman for the ministry said in a statement that the Sudanese embassy in Washington or in any other capital did not receive a request from “Perriello” to grant him an entry visa, explaining that the Khartoum embassy in Washington reviewed the US State Department regarding “Perriello’s” statements that the government refused to grant him a visa, and the latter confirmed that the special envoy didn’t say so.
An impossible request
In turn, diplomatic expert Al-Tarifi Karmenu says that regardless of the validity of the request of the American envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, for a visa according to conditions or otherwise, his requests are impossible. He added, “If these are the requests of an envoy, what will be the requests of his president, Joe Biden?” He wondered, “Will the envoy come with Moses’ stick to solve the Sudanese crisis so that he asks for that?
Karmeno pointed out in an interview with (Sudan Events) that according to diplomatic custom, it is not normal for the envoy not to come to Sudan as long as he has been officially appointed, indicating that the American administration has no desire to resolve the Sudanese crisis.
Confirming the certain
Journalist Osman Mirghani confirmed that the US special envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, had requested an entry visa to the country.
Mirghani said in a post on his Facebook page: “It is absolutely certain that the American special envoy requested an entry visa to Sudan, and it was confirmed that the Sudanese authorities refused because he stipulated that all his discussions be held at Port Sudan airport and that an American security force precede him to secure the site.”
