FC Barcelona is guaranteed to participate in the Spanish Super Cup, which will be hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia next January, to join the teams of Real Madrid, the Spanish League champion, Athletic Bilbao and Real Mallorca, the two sides of the Spanish King’s Cup final. The sides of the Spanish Super Cup championship square have been completed, after Barcelona clinched the second place in the La Liga standings with 82 points, 4 points behind third-placed Girona with one round to go, thus qualifying for the next edition of the Spanish Super Cup, which is being held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Barcelona faced Athletic Bilbao in the Super Cup semi-final, and Real Madrid played against Real Madrid Mallorca. The rules of the competition stipulate that the league champion will meet against the Spanish King’s Cup runner-up, and the Spanish King’s Cup winner will meet against the second-placed team in La Liga.
