The Acting Governor of Gezira, Al-Taher Ibrahim Al-Khair, and the Deputy Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Dr. Abdul Qadir Ahmed Mohammad Khaled, the Agricultural Director, in Matouk Agricultural Department in Gezira Scheme, inaugurated (Wednesday) the planting of summer crops in Al-Hashaba Office, Matouk Agricultural Department. The governor of Gezira Scheme has revealed that the indicative area for the year 24/25 is 1,150,000 fedans, including 600,000 fedans of sorghum, 200,000 fedans of groundnuts, 100,000 fedans of cotton, 100,000 soybeans, and the remaining area is for other crops, while the director of West Al-Manaqil Irrigation Operations confirmed that his administration has prepared to fulfill all requirements towards summer crop praised the support of the governor and his government to the Irrigation Corporation. He also pointed out to the Khair Al-Manaqil contributions to the cleansing of the main canals.
The Director of the Zakat Office stressed that the inauguration of an area of this size in such circumstances confirms the sincerity of the determination, calling for the success of the season, urging the resistance to protect its areas and promising to support poor families in all agricultural stages in the field.
