Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Osama Abdul Khaleq, expressed Egypt’s concern about the violations against civilians in Sudan following the continuation of the ongoing crisis, and its severe effects on the protection of civilians and their exposure to starvation, displacement and suffering as a result of armed confrontations.
During his delivery of Egypt’s statement at the annual discussion session in the Security Council on the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, he renewed Egypt’s call to achieve an immediate ceasefire, respect international humanitarian law, facilitate humanitarian access, respect Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, preserve state institutions, and stop of external interference in its affairs in preparation for achieving a comprehensive settlement led and owned by the Sudanese.
