Hamdouk: We are Waiting for a Response from Al-Burhan to Discuss Stopping War
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The head of the Coordination of Civilian Democratic Forces (Taqaddum), Abdullah Hamdouk, denied bias towards either side of the war, and said that they were waiting for a response from the army commander, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, to hold a meeting to discuss stopping the war.
Hamdoik stressed, in a speech during the opening of the conference, that “Taqaddum” is not biased towards any party in the war, saying: “We are biased towards the families of the martyrs, both civilian and military, and we are biased towards those who were thrown into the war without having a choice in it.”
He pointed out that the meeting comes as the war enters its second year, claiming thousands of lives and tens of thousands of widows, committing the most horrific violations, eliminating and destroying the country’s capabilities, and displacing millions of people.
Hamdouk said that the war, in its second year, has reached an unprecedented stage of destruction of the Sudanese people and violation of their rights, and that what is more dangerous than that is the threat of famine that threatens the lives of millions, and which, if not remedied, will lead to the loss of many times the number of lives.
