Liverpool officials engaged in a conflict with Manchester City and Bayern Munich, in order to include Argentine star Alan Varela, the Portuguese midfielder from Porto, next season.
Varela, 22 years old, has a contract with Porto that expires in June 2028 and a release clause worth 60 million euros. Liverpool will face fierce competition from Manchester City and Bayern Munich to include Alan Varela.
Liverpool, Man City and Bayern will begin moving to include the Porto midfielder with the opening of the 2024 summer transfer window. He joined Porto last summer from Boca Juniors of Argentina for 8 million euros. He participated in 44 matches with Porto in his first season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
