Bernd Neuendorf, President of the German Federation, affirmed his confidence in the machine team’s ability to win the European Nations Cup “Euro 2024”, which will be held in Germany next month.
“We look forward, like any team, to give our best, and I am confident that we are capable. We want to achieve success, and the team is promising, and I am confident that we will play a good tournament and that we can go far.” He said.
The German team, which has won the Nations Cup three times, is preparing to face Scotland in the opening of the Euro on June 14 in a group that also includes the teams of Hungary and Switzerland. The German team has performed modestly in the last three major tournaments, in addition to disappointing results in 2023, but coach Julian Nagelsmann seemed to have put things back to normal. After defeating the Netherlands and France in two friendlies in March, Neuendorf noted that he met Nagelsmann as well as national team manager Rudi Voeller.
“I have complete confidence in the technical leadership of the national team.” He said.
The German national team roster included the presence of 4 goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Alexander Nubel, and Oliver Baumann. It also witnessed the exclusion of Leon Goretzica, the Bayern Munich midfielder, and Mats Hummels, the Borussia Dortmund defender.
