(FAO) to Support Gezira Scheme

The Regional Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced the organization’s readiness to provide the Gezira Scheme with production inputs and provide improved seeds to farmers for the purpose of increasing production rates to achieve food security in light of the challenges facing the scheme due to the war.
This came during his meeting (Thursday) with the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, and they discussed aspects of joint cooperation.
For his part, the Governor of Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa Ali, expressed his appreciation for the great role of the World Food Organization and its support for farmers in the scheme and its interest in achieving food security in light of the farmer’s connection to his land and cultivation of his crops despite the current circumstances, indicating that the areas scheduled for cultivation in safe sites under the control of the government in the scheme represent More than 65%, which can contribute to achieving food security for the benefit of Gezira citizens and Sudan.
