The President of the Sovereign Council, Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, has received, on Wednesday, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramatane Lamamra.
The meeting touched on the role played by the United Nations in addressing the Sudanese crisis.
Lamamra said in a press statement that the mission assigned to him by the Secretary-General is to encourage the Sudanese brothers to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis in Sudan, noting that the United Nations is consulting with all parties in order to bring viewpoints closer and reach a peaceful solution. Lamamra added that the meeting also touched on the ongoing consultations to resume negotiation tracks, and said, “We as the United Nations encourage the negotiations and hope they will succeed,” expressing his hope for a positive contribution from all regional and international partners to ensure a ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those who deserve it in all parts of the country and double Efforts to reach a political solution through a full and comprehensive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that allows the Sudanese people to decide their fate for themselves.
