Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Democratic Institutional Reform Group of the National Umma Party said that the party’s presidential office took a decision not to participate in the “Taqaddum ” coalition, but the party’s president and a number of its leaders participated in the Addis Ababa conference without regard to the decision. The Group confirmed that it will work on reform from within the party and does not intend to lead a split.
The National Reform Group held a press conference, Thursday, in Port Sudan, and announced that it includes party leaders from 17 out of 18 states, and also includes members of the central body, the presidential institution, the political office, and the party’s living sectors. The group rejected any decisions that violated the party’s constitution and contradicted the principle of transparency and impunity, and denounced the policy of party leader Fadlallah Barma Nasser.
The group launched a violent attack on the “Taqaddum” front, describing it as exclusionary. The group rejected all forms of dependence on the outside. It said that the methodology of Taqaddum was based on exclusion and brought together people with personal interests. It said: “What was signed between Hamdouk and Al-Hilu is a gift from those who do not have to those who do not deserve.”
