At least ten people were killed, Friday, as a result of violent artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support militia (RSF) on neighborhoods crowded with civilians in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.
A medical source said, according to “Sudan Tribune,” that “about ten people were killed in a violent artillery shelling carried out by the RSF militia on the southern neighborhoods of the city of El Fasher.”
The targeting included the neighborhoods of “Ingaz, Amel, Berenjieh, Al-Kifah, and Al-Salam,” in addition to targeting the Southern Hospital, the only medical facility operating in El Fasher.
According to Sudan Tribune, a volunteer at the Southern El Fasher Hospital, Mohammad Suleiman Hamed, said that an artillery shell fell into the northern wall of the medical facility without any loss of life.
He strongly condemned the RSF’ targeting of civilian facilities, including hospitals. He added, “The army command and the joint force’s outposts do not target hospitals.”
He pointed out that the Southern Hospital is facing tremendous pressure in light of the cessation of all medical facilities, as the departments of children, women, obstetrics, cancer, and emergency cases are working with the support of charities, the state government, and the Darfur region.
