Khartoum Governor: Successive Defeats Prompted Militia to Target Citizens

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, has said that the successive defeats suffered by the rebel militia prompted it to turn its deadly weapons to target unarmed citizens. Those who were displaced from their neighborhoods and took refuge in shelter centers to escape the hell of the militia.
The governor inspected the shelter center for IDPs in Thawra Hara 8, which was targeted by the militia, on Thursday, with artillery shelling that resulted in the injury of 6 individuals, some of whom were kept to receive treatment, including children not more than two years old.
The governor explained that after the war continued for more than a year, their duty was to ease the burden on the citizens. He added: “Despite the occurrence of injuries, we thank God that there were no deaths in the center crowded with displaced. We are making great efforts to care for shelter centers, provide food, and provide social and security protection. At the same time, we are working to prepare the neighborhoods for a safe return by removing the remnants of war and restoring water and electricity. The markets and bakeries are clean, and there is a noticeable improvement that has begun with the return of water.” He expressed his expectations that some of the citizens of Omdurman will return to their homes on Eid Al-Adha.
